Migos Rapper Takeoff Shot Dead In Houston Texas At 28

It has been confirmed by a representative that rapper Takeoff has been fatally shot at a party in Houston, Texas.

The 28-year-old star of Migos was playing dice with bandmate Quavo at a private event held at a bowling alley when the shooting occurred.

Police report that a man was shot in the head or neck. Quavious Keyate Marshall, aka Quavo, is said to be unharmed. 

The shooting took place at 810 Billiards & Bowling after 2.30am. Private vehicles took two other injured people to hospitals after police arrived to find one man dead on a balcony on the third floor of the building.

Security guards who were in the vicinity heard the shooting, but did not see the perpetrator, police lieutenant Ronnie Willkens said.

An AP reporter who was present saw a body being loaded into a medical examiner's van around 10am, more than seven hours after the shooting occurred.

In addition to being a rapper, Quavo is also known as a member of Migos - a rap trio from suburban Atlanta, credited as one of the most influential rap groups of their generation.

Fans and friends were quick to pay tribute on Twitter, with boxer Chris Eubank Jr writing: "I can't believe I'm having to say this again about another young black star being killed for no reason. Something really needs to change in the industry."
